Okay... so this was the most random birthday I have had in the longest time. But, I am not complaining... I felt very showered with unexpected love and attention.
My actual birthday was on Friday. But, on Thursday, Dax gave me a couple of great gifts and we met my friends for dinner at Bangkok Joes... Dax and 6 girls. It was very fun!!! Dax bailed and the girls went to Fado for an Irish band and drinking. Good times. On my birthday day, I flew to St. Louis for the redneck olympics. We had dinner in the pole barn and my parents and sister gave me gifts in the hotel room. On Saturday night they gave my dad and I a HUGE ice cream cake ... so that was fun!!! We had a catered meal for everyone too.
The whole event wasn't even about me. We all flew in because it was my grandfathers 95th birthday... so I shouldn't even be talking about me. He is definitly 95... and really showing it. He really enjoyed having all of his family there... I am glad we could all be there.
But, when you get that many family members in the same place, you know you are bound to have some interesting interactions. I love our family... and we all got along pretty well... I was surprised there was not more conflict. Overall, I think everyone got along well.
I will journal more about this later.
